Step into a home that feels like a beloved time capsule, offering a nostalgic feel and ready for its next story. This retro home, built in 1970, has been lovingly cared for and well-maintained by the original owners for over 50 years. Home to Debbie Drake, the iconic fitness trailblazer, whose nationally syndicated exercise programs inspired millions to stretch, tone, and thrive, the property offers four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, and 4,749 square feet.
Located in Cherry Hills Village, and situated on nearly an acre, this ranch home is filled with cherished memories of luxury living in the 70s/80s. The home radiates the charm and optimism of the era when Drake’s televised routines brought energy into living rooms across the country. A pioneer in media and marketing, Drake used television, records, books, and other products to reach millions. She created her own exercise routine combining stretching, breathing, and dance, which became The Debbie Drake Show.
It was the first exercise show to be broadcast nationally in the United States, reaching 20 million viewers. Drake passed away in 2024, but her memory and the home evoke a simpler time when kids explored the outdoors uninhibited, rode bikes all over town until dusk, used walkie-talkies to communicate, and partook in adventures their parents knew nothing about.
Step back in time and soak up the spirit of this perfectly preserved property, representative of an era currently popular in pop culture, with the anticipated final season of Stranger Things. Imagine Karen Wheeler watching Debbie lead a morning workout in the living room before getting the kids out the double front doors for school.
The moment you enter the home, you are greeted by features prominent in 1970s design, including original doors, light fixtures, tile flooring, and defined spaces. The large entryway leads to a formal living room with picturesque floor-to-ceiling bay windows and space for a grand piano.
A formal dining room sets the tone for holidays, celebrations, or long dinners with friends, and the large family room includes vaulted beamed ceilings with skylights, parquet floors, wood paneling, built-in shelving and cabinetry, and a stone fireplace. This room begs for family game nights or cozy nights by the fire.
From there, head to the eat-in kitchen. This space creates a central hub of the home, where connection and everyday activities set the tone for the day.
A screened porch looks over the expansive lot and offers indoor/outdoor living with space for a dining table and additional seating. It’s the perfect setting for summer evenings, backyard mysteries, or peaceful mornings with a cup of coffee.
The nostalgic primary suite is spacious with an en-suite bath, and finally, the finished basement is perfect for endless hours of Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, setting up forts, hanging out, and making plans to save the world.
Built with authenticity and heart, and the legacy of a woman who helped transform American fitness culture, 4290 Honey Locust Drive is the perfect property for someone with a vision who wants to make it their own and bring it into its next era while honoring the magic, memories, and subtle supernatural glow that have always lived within the walls.
