Ron I. Martinez – Sean Ranch Lough Foundation

Ron I. Martinez, LIV SIR broker is the Co-Founder and Board Member of the Sean “Ranch” Lough Foundation (SRLF) which awards several deserving Denver high school seniors with four-year scholarships to Colorado State University (CSU), with all tuition, room and board expenses covered, every year. LIV SIR brokers, staff, and leadership take the scholarship winners shopping for their dorm room essentials and back to school supplies for their first year at CSU.

This summer, Lauren Crowder, Director of Operations, Stacey Ginsburg, Director of Creative & Production, LIV SIR broker Kenzie Robertson, and Martinez took two of the recipients shopping at Target. The carts were full of new backpacks, laptops, and supplies. The third scholarship recipient was not able to participate in the shopping trip but did receive a gift card from the foundation.

1,100 applications are received for the four-year scholarship to CSU, the alma matter of Sean ‘Ranch’ Lough, who died in a tragic bike accident 21 years ago. Fundraising for the scholarships is accomplished primarily through the Denver Derby Party.

Erin Rule – Missions Ministries

LIV SIR broker Erin Rule and her daughter spent four days in Juarez, Mexico with Missions Ministries helping to construct a home for a single mother and her four children. The family had been living in an unsafe, single room dwelling, sharing one bunk bed. Rule worked with a team of people who built a solid, three-bedroom home including individual beds for each family member, and a full pantry.

Additionally, the group hosted 80 children in the neighborhood by providing an art project and hot meal. Finally, they delivered food bags to the community where most residents live in homes made of pallets and other various materials. Rule has a passion to serve on multiple international outreach groups that administer aid to those living in extreme poverty.

Margaret Wysocki – Libertad, Belize

Margaret Wysocki, LIV SIR broker, went from Castle Rock to Belize with her daughter on a mission trip supporting the community in Libertad, a small village outside of Corozal. Each day, they traveled to the village, lending support to a local school, residents, and a church. Wysocki volunteered in a classroom helping the teachers with various tasks, as well as the small children with art projects.

At lunchtime, the group would go on home visits where they delivered bags of food and sat and talked with the residents. “Connecting with these people was life changing for my daughter and me,” said Wysocki.

After the home visits, they went to the local church to teach vacation Bible school and hold sports camps for the kids. A “spa night” was held for the women of the church where they were pampered and made to feel special.

In this season of giving, we hope you are as inspired by our brokers and staff as we are!
