“The owners combined two penthouse units to create a posh full-floor apartment with urban flair.” —Stefanos Chen

An excerpt from “New York Chic In Denver” – By Stefanos Chen | The owners, Robert and Carla Wright, purchased two penthouse units in this 15-story condo building in Denver, Colo., known as the Beauvallon. They estimate spending $3.8 million to buy the adjacent units. The couple combined the spaces to create a floor-through apartment that measures more than 8,300 square feet. They were looking to create the feel of a New York loft with an undivided floor plan and plenty of natural light, Mr. Wright said. Ms. Wright, 50, designed the space with Denver-based architect Jonathan Saiber of Saiber Saiber Architecture. The space was ‘an empty shell’ when they began, but now has ‘a very upscale, urban feel to it,’ she said. The Beauvallon, which is comprised of two towers, was completed in 2004-’05 and has commercial space on the first two floors. The Wrights’ apartment includes a combined living, dining and kitchen space, pictured here.

The two units are combined, but can easily be partitioned to create a separate guest apartment for visitors. Mr. Wright, 51, said part of the appeal is that they can host family or work colleagues without sacrificing their privacy. The home features Brazilian ebony wood flooring. A slate stone fireplace in the living area is shown (below). Read the full WSJ article here.
