Region’s Top Chefs to Support Camp for Children with Chronic and Life-Threatening Illnesses
Some of the region’s top chefs and legendary entertainer, Pete Martinez, will gather on Saturday, October 27, 2012 to support Roundup River Ranch, an organization which provides camp experiences to children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses – completely free of charge to the campers and their families. The event will be held at History Colorado Center in Denver from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Frank Bonanno from Bonanno Concepts, Justin Cucci from Root Down and Linger, Simon Purvis from Edge Restaurant, the teams from Elway’s and Eat + Drink Denver, and City Bakery Denver will serve small plates highlighting their culinary talents and expertise to event attendees in a recently opened History Colorado Center. The City Slicker Soiree will also feature live entertainment provided by Pete Martinez and live and silent auctions. Guests will also have the opportunity to tour History Colorado Center between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Frank Bonanno, of Bonanno Concepts, has championed the event from its inception in 2011. “Along with the other chefs and restaurants, I am delighted to participate in the City Slicker Soiree – knowing that our efforts at the event will provide life-changing camp experiences to children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses free of charge is gratifying,” he said. “Roundup River Ranch offers impactful opportunities to the children and families in our community, and I look forward to supporting these campers at the event.”
Roundup River Ranch is a full member of SeriousFun Children’s Network, formerly The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps, the world’s largest family of medical specialty camps founded by actor Paul Newman over two decades ago. Roundup River Ranch, located in Gypsum, Colo., will serve approximately 425 children this year, providing fun, safe, and empowering camp experiences, with appropriate medical care, through week-long camp sessions in the summer and a family program for children and their families during the fall and spring. All programs are provided free of charge.

“A majority of the campers who attend Roundup River Ranch reside in the Front Range or are served by The Children’s Hospital Colorado,” said Ruth B. Johnson, JD, president/CEO of Roundup River Ranch. “The City Slicker Soiree is the opportunity for our Front Range community to experience the magic of camp as they ensure that our campers and their families will continue to enjoy transformational camp experiences.”
